Show Review

Parizaad is one of those dramas that goes far beyond a conventional love story and presents a deeply emotional exploration of identity, self-worth, society, class, appearance, and the search for happiness. At the center of the story is Parizaad, a sensitive and soft-spoken young man who grows up in difficult circumstances and constantly finds himself judged because of his appearance, financial position, and place in society.

From the beginning, Parizaad is portrayed as someone who possesses kindness and intelligence but lacks confidence because of the way people treat him. His journey becomes particularly powerful because the people around him repeatedly make him feel that he is less valuable than others. Instead of allowing these experiences to completely break him, Parizaad gradually learns how to survive and adapt to different situations.

Ahmed Ali Akbar’s performance is the biggest strength of the drama. He completely transforms himself into Parizaad, capturing his shy personality, awkwardness, innocence, emotional vulnerability, and later transformation with remarkable consistency. His body language, expressions, voice, and mannerisms make Parizaad feel like a real person rather than simply a fictional character.

The supporting cast also plays an important role in shaping Parizaad’s journey. Every major character he encounters leaves some kind of impact on his personality and understanding of life. Some people show him kindness, some take advantage of his innocence, while others make him question his own worth. These relationships allow the drama to explore different sides of human nature.

Yumna Zaidi’s character Annie brings another emotional dimension to the story. Her relationship with Parizaad is built around understanding and emotional connection rather than superficial attraction. Their scenes provide some of the most meaningful moments in the drama and reinforce the idea that genuine connection comes from understanding another person’s heart rather than judging their appearance.

Nauman Ijaz also delivers a memorable performance as Behroze Karim, bringing authority and complexity to the character. His presence represents another important stage in Parizaad’s transformation and introduces him to a completely different world from the one he knew earlier in life.

One of the drama’s strongest themes is society’s obsession with physical appearance and social status. Parizaad is constantly reminded that the world values people differently based on how they look, how much money they have, and what position they hold. The drama uses his experiences to question these attitudes without reducing the story to a simple moral lesson.

As Parizaad’s circumstances change, his personality also begins to evolve. However, the drama does not simply turn him into a powerful or wealthy person and end his struggles. Instead, it continues exploring whether material success can actually provide the emotional fulfilment he has been searching for throughout his life.

The story also deals with love in several different forms. Parizaad experiences attraction, rejection, affection, disappointment, and emotional connection with different people. These experiences gradually teach him that love is not always about getting the person you desire. Sometimes it is about understanding what another person means to you and accepting that some relationships may never become what you hoped.

The writing by Hashim Nadeem gives the drama a literary quality that separates it from many conventional Pakistani television serials. The story moves through different phases of Parizaad’s life, allowing viewers to see how every experience contributes to the person he eventually becomes.

Another major strength is the drama’s ability to balance emotional storytelling with social commentary. Poverty, class differences, colorism, loneliness, relationships, friendship, betrayal, ambition, and self-respect are all incorporated naturally into Parizaad’s journey.

The drama is not perfect, and some portions of the later story can feel slower than the earlier episodes. Some characters also receive less development than their introduction initially suggests. However, the central character remains strong enough to carry the narrative forward.

Overall, Parizaad is a deeply emotional character-driven drama that succeeds because of its writing, direction, performances, and especially Ahmed Ali Akbar’s portrayal of the title character. It is a story about a man who spends much of his life believing that he is not enough, only to gradually discover that his real value was never determined by his appearance, wealth, or social position. For viewers who enjoy meaningful Pakistani dramas with strong characters, emotional storytelling, social themes, and memorable performances, Parizaad remains an excellent watch.
