Phantom Lawyer (2026) Korean Drama
Phantom Lawyer is a South Korean legal fantasy drama that follows Shin I-rang, a young lawyer whose life takes an unexpected turn when he discovers that he can see ghosts and even become possessed by them. What begins as an unusual personal experience soon becomes the foundation of a law practice unlike any other, where the clients seeking justice are not always among the living.
After facing repeated rejection from established law firms, Shin I-rang decides to open his own small law office in an old building that once belonged to a shaman. He hopes to build a successful legal career, but the strange atmosphere of his new workplace brings him into contact with spirits carrying unresolved grievances. These unexpected clients have unfinished business, and their stories lead him into cases filled with secrets, injustice, and emotional complications.
I-rang initially struggles to understand his unusual ability. He is not the fearless, perfectly confident lawyer one might expect from a typical courtroom drama. He can be timid and awkward, yet his sincerity and determination gradually help him face situations that would overwhelm most people. His ability to experience the memories and emotions of spirits becomes an unconventional advantage as he searches for the truth behind their cases.
His journey becomes more complicated when he encounters Han Na-hyeon, a highly successful attorney known for her sharp intelligence and impressive record of winning cases. Unlike I-rang, Na-hyeon approaches law with a competitive mindset and places enormous importance on professional success. She initially finds his claims about communicating with ghosts difficult to accept, creating an entertaining contrast between her practical outlook and his supernatural experiences.
Despite their differences, the two lawyers gradually discover that their skills can complement one another. I-rang brings compassion, unusual insights, and a willingness to listen to people whose stories have been ignored. Na-hyeon contributes legal expertise, strategic thinking, and the ability to challenge opposing arguments in a courtroom. Their developing partnership allows them to approach cases from perspectives neither could manage as effectively alone.
Each case reveals more than a legal problem. The spirits who approach I-rang carry stories involving personal loss, hidden wrongdoing, broken relationships, and unanswered questions. By helping them seek justice, he also helps the living confront painful truths and find a way forward. The supernatural elements therefore serve a deeper purpose, connecting mystery and courtroom conflict with themes of grief, accountability, and human understanding.
As the series progresses, I-rangβs own family history becomes increasingly important. His fatherβs troubled past raises questions that reach beyond his professional struggles, adding a personal mystery to the cases he handles. What begins as a strange new career gradually becomes a journey toward understanding his family, his abilities, and the meaning of justice.
Phantom Lawyer combines legal drama, supernatural fantasy, mystery, comedy, and emotional storytelling. Its unusual premise creates opportunities for humour, suspense, and heartfelt moments while examining whether justice can truly be achieved when important voices are ignored.
For viewers who enjoy Korean dramas featuring supernatural mysteries, unconventional lawyers, courtroom conflicts, and meaningful character development, Phantom Lawyer offers a distinctive story about defending both the living and the dead.
